Tried Audacity today for some wave file editing.Tried its fade out and bass boost features.
Liked it, quite easy to edit audio files and has some good features too.

Icon Changer
Wanted to have the icon of my project's .exe file to be really cool.
Tried Resource Hacker, another freeware which lets you play with your .exe file, change it icon,its path etc.
p.s. Also changed the icon with resource option in Visual studio which lets you make your icons in its image editor.Just add the icon,.rc file and compile your code and its done.

Undelete tool
After accidently deleting a chapter of my Project Report from my hard drive today, i started looking for ways to undelete it.I did found some tools which can be downloaded easily but most of them let you find the file on the disk but will only let you recover it after you buy them.So after some try i found Recuva (Version 1.40.525) which is a Freeware and i recovered part of my Chapter back.
Obviously there could be many others like it but for me this worked and i will use it unless i find or recommended a better tool.
p.s.: After you undelete a file permanently (Shift + delete or empty your recycle bin), don't try to save or modify any other document, you might end up overwriting your deleted file and then when you recover it(if you recover it), it will be only be half recovered.

Comparing Tools
Although i have used Beyond Compare and Compare it for comparing and merging different versions of source code but last week when i could get hold of either of the two someone suggested me to try using Notepad++ Compare feature which is a plugin.
Though i have used it for a day or two only and still learning how to use it but it seems that it is not that great as the other tools i have used earlier.

Visual Studio 2008 Plugins
Adding Comments and Source Formatting in Eclipse is much better that Visual Studio 2008 at least.
But for now i am working on VS 2008 so i am looking for plugins or links or softwares that can help me in this.

Gimp still tops the chart!!
I have been using Gimp for 8-9 months now for producing different effects like spot light,transparency etc and for me it still tops the chart as a good image editing software.
